FRAC Condemns the Trump Administration’s Attacks on SNAP, Says Program Restrictions Would Deepen Hunger and Reinforce Stigma

WASHINGTON, April 16, 2025 – Yesterday, Arkansas and Indiana submitted waivers to restrict food choices for Americans in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), with Idaho and other states indicating similar plans. These proposals represent a troubling precedent that shifts SNAP away from its core mission: reducing hunger and supporting the health and dignity of those in need.

Proposed Cuts to School Meals Would Harm Students, Families, and Schools

More than 1,800 National, State, and Community Organizations Urge Congress to Protect, Strengthen Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

WASHINGTON, March 5, 2025 – The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) and more than 1,800 national, state, and local organizations from every state in the country signed on to a letter urging Congress to reject any proposals that would cut or weaken the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the child nutrition programs. The letter underscores the critical role SNAP plays in helping tens of millions of people put food on the table and how SNAP goes beyond food assistance, including supporting health and boosting the economy.
